With over a century of service protecting the lives and property of local residents, the East Hampton Fire Department is looking for dedicated men and women to join our highly trained and committed volunteers.
We are one of the largest departments on the East End. New members receive the highest level of professional training from experienced firefighters on the most modern equipment. In addition, membership brings the benefits of a Service Awards program and a property-tax discount.
Applicants must be 18 years of age, in good health, and a resident of the East Hampton Fire District for at least one year. All applicants undergo a police background check and must be approved by the Trustees of the Village of East Hampton.
New members remain on probation for a period of one year, and must complete the 120-hour New York State Firefighter 1 course within two years of being accepted. Remaining active in the department requires responding to a quarter of all alarms, a third of drills and half of company meetings.
